A massive wildfire has torn through a multi-million-dollar neighborhood in Southern California, forcing over 30,000 residents to evacuate. Despite the destruction, some have ignored evacuation orders, staying behind as flames spread.
The Palisades and Pasadena areas remain under severe threat, with winds reaching up to 100 mph. On January 7, the Palisades fire exploded, doubling in size within hours, burning over 2,900 acres. Simultaneously, the Eaton fire in Altadena consumed 1,000 acres, and the Hurst fire in Sylmar grew to 100 acres, triggering more evacuations.
The fires are fueled by dry conditions, overgrown vegetation, and dangerous winds, creating a “perfect storm” for disaster. Experts warn that conditions could worsen, with winds peaking between January 7-8, making containment efforts even harder.
