Trump’s Health Check: “Excellent” Status Spurs Debate
The White House announced that Donald Trump’s recent medical evaluation at Walter Reed hospital in Bethesda, Maryland, found him in “excellent” physical and cognitive health. This was his first annual checkup since starting his second presidential term. While supporters and some medical pros hailed the results, many in the public remained skeptical.

Doctors reported that Trump’s heart, lungs, and neurological functions all looked good. He aced the Montreal Cognitive Assessment, a test for early signs of dementia. There were no signs of anxiety or depression, and a full neurological exam came back clean. The report mentioned the scar behind his right ear from last year’s assassination attempt, but otherwise, his head, ears, nose, throat, and hearing were normal. It also noted ongoing but managed conditions like high cholesterol, rosacea, a past Covid – 19 infection, and a benign colon polyp.
Trump takes low – dose aspirin for his heart, a statin for cholesterol, and uses topical skin treatments. He weighs 224 pounds and stands 6 feet, 2.5 inches tall, putting him just into the “overweight” BMI category—a step up from previous years.
Online, many weren’t buying it. People questioned the accuracy of his reported weight. “224 pounds? No chance,” one person wrote. Others pointed out that, if true, his BMI would be 28.5, saying that’s too high for someone who avoids exercise.
Despite Trump’s love for fast food and dislike of regular workouts, his doctors credited his frequent golfing for his fitness. The report even playfully mentioned his “frequent golf wins.”
Some acknowledged that, despite doubts, Trump’s mental sharpness at 78, under presidential pressure, is impressive. “You can’t ignore how sharp he is under stress,” one comment read.
On Air Force One, Trump said he felt “better than ever” and nailed his cognitive test. He’d previously posted on Truth Social about feeling great but knowing checkups were important. He didn’t share new lifestyle advice from his doctors but told reporters, “I have a good heart and a very good soul.”
Medical expert Dr. Mark Siegel praised Trump’s lower blood pressure (128/70) and improved cholesterol. He said Trump’s weight loss and better BMI showed real progress and called his cognitive function “strong.” Siegel even said Trump’s health was like that of someone much younger, inspiring for others.
Compared to 2018, when he was obese with high cholesterol, Trump has improved. His weight, cholesterol, and blood pressure have all gotten better over the years.
While online debates about the report’s stats continue, the official results have reassured Trump’s team and fans. On paper, he seems fit to handle the presidency. In a time when leaders’ health is closely watched, this health update will likely stay in the spotlight.
