A Guy With His Large Box.

A man in New York hails a taxi for a long-distance ride across state lines. As he hops in, he carefully places a large box in the backseat. Throughout the trip, he keeps glancing at it nervously, checking on it every ten minutes.

By the time they hit New Jersey, he calls his wife:
“Hey, honey. Yeah, they gave me the jewelry. I’ll get it appraised in Atlanta—should be worth around $200,000. I’ll call you when it’s done.”

Thirty minutes later, he asks the driver to stop at a gas station for lunch. The driver pulls in to fill up while the man heads to the diner. After eating, he walks back outside—and the taxi is gone.

Along with his precious box.

Without missing a beat, he walks back into the store and asks the clerk, “Got any large empty boxes in the back?”

The clerk raises an eyebrow. “What do you need it for?”

The man smiles. “Well, I have to be in Florida tomorrow.”

Why a Taxi Driver Got a Better Deal in Heaven

Father O’Flannagan, an old priest, passes away and arrives at St. Peter’s gate.

Ahead of him stands a New York City taxi driver.

St. Peter asks, “What’s your name, and what did you accomplish in life?”

The man replies, “I’m Joe Cohen. I drove a taxi in New York for 14 years.”

St. Peter nods. “Very well. Here is your silk robe and golden scepter. Welcome to Heaven.”

Then, it’s Father O’Flannagan’s turn.

“And you?” St. Peter asks.

“I’m Father O’Flannagan. I dedicated 62 years to serving the Lord.”

St. Peter hands him a cotton robe and a wooden staff.

The priest frowns. “Wait a minute! You gave the taxi driver a silk robe and a golden scepter—why am I getting this?”

St. Peter smiles. “Because up here, we go by performance. When you preached, people slept. When he drove, people prayed.”
