A Young Couple’s Wedding Worries

A young couple decided to get married. As the big day approached, they both grew anxious, each hiding a secret fear they had never shared with anyone, not even with each other.
The groom-to-be, hoping to ease his anxiety, went to his father for advice. “Father, I’m deeply concerned about the success of my marriage,” he confessed.
His father asked, “Do you love this girl?”
“Oh yes, very much,” the groom replied, “but you see, I have extremely smelly feet, and I’m afraid my fiancée will be repelled by them.”
His father reassured him, “No problem! All you need to do is wash your feet as often as possible, and always wear socks—even to bed.”
Feeling relieved, the groom thought that seemed like a workable solution.
The bride-to-be, similarly troubled, turned to her mother with her own concern. “Mom,” she said, “when I wake up in the morning, my breath is awful.”
Her mother responded, “Sweetheart, everyone has bad breath in the morning.”
“No, you don’t understand,” the bride-to-be explained. “My morning breath is so bad, I’m afraid my fiancé won’t want to sleep in the same room with me.”
Her mother smiled and said, “In the morning, get out of bed right away and head straight to the kitchen to make breakfast. While the family is eating, you can go to the bathroom and brush your teeth. Just don’t say a word until you’ve brushed.”
“I shouldn’t even say good morning?” the daughter asked.
“Not a word,” her mother replied.
The bride-to-be thought this advice was worth trying.
The couple married, and following the advice they had received—he in his socks and she in her morning silence—they managed quite well. That is, until about six months later, one morning before dawn.
The husband woke suddenly, realizing that one of his socks had come off during the night. Panicking, he began searching frantically under the bed. This woke his wife, and without thinking, she asked, “What on earth are you doing?”
He replied in a panic, “Oh no! You’ve swallowed my sock!”
Hope this little joke brightens your day! 😊
