A Proud but Grieving Father
Timothy later took to Facebook, pouring out his pain:
💔 “I was so proud when Sam became a pilot. Now it hurts so bad I can’t even cry myself to sleep. I know I’ll see him again, but my heart is breaking.”
💔 “He was doing great in his career and his personal life. He was engaged to get married this fall.”
The post included a photo of Sam standing in front of an Advanced Pilot Training (APT) aircraft.
Messages of support flooded in:
💬 “My heart breaks for you and your family.”
💬 “I would have boarded any plane he was flying without a second thought.”
💬 “No words can ease your pain, but please know you’re in our prayers.”
A Veteran’s Perspective
As an experienced pilot, Timothy believes the Army helicopter crew made a critical mistake:
🛫 “If you’re flying over the Potomac with night vision goggles, it’s hard to see a jet. Without them, you might have a chance.”
🛫 “From what I can tell, those guys turned right into the jet. I think the PSA crew did everything right. The Army pilot made a grave error.”
🛫 “It hurts me because those are my brothers… and now my son is dead.”
Investigation Underway
The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are now investigating the crash to determine exactly what went wrong.
