“She told me she was honored to meet me,” Jackson said in a 1997 interview with Barbara Walters.
Michael was nervous before shaking hands with Diana. The picture from that day shows his uneasiness. He had removed the song “Dirty Diana” from the concert setlist because he thought it might bother her.
“I took it out of the show in honor of Her Royal Highness,” Jackson told Barbara Walters in 1997.

Diana wasn’t happy about the song being removed. She asked Michael if he was going to perform “Dirty Diana” during the meet – and – greet before the show. He said he had removed it because of her, but she urged him to perform it. And he did.
Michael Jackson clearly admired Diana and respected her.
“I thought the princess was just wonderful,” Jackson told reporters at the time.
He also gave her two small tour jackets for her children, Princes William and Harry.
Diana, a big pop music fan, danced throughout the whole concert while Prince Charles just sat there.
