She entered with that familiar, cold sweetness. “We need to talk about Peter’s fund,” she said, as if discussing money was the most normal thing in the world.
I immediately knew where this was going. “You’ve got to be kidding me.”
Susan leaned in, grinning. “The money’s just sitting there, unused. Why not make the most of it? Ryan could really use it.”
I was livid. “That money was for Peter. It’s not for your stepson!”
She sighed dramatically, “Ryan’s family too.”
Peter didn’t know Ryan. He barely knew Susan. Yet here they were, treating me like I was the one being unreasonable.
