In a heartbreaking tragedy, 12 Felician sisters at a convent in Michigan died from COVID-19 in just one month, and a 13th passed away six weeks later. The Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary convent in Livonia, near Detroit, was hit hard, with 17 other sisters contracting the virus but recovering.
Sister Mary Ann Smith, who was sick from mid-April to late May, said, “We all knew if it hit, it would be bad, but we never anticipated how quickly it would spread.” She shared that during her illness, she feared her life was ending, praying for relief from the intense pain.
