“Where is he going with the food without eating it?”
One lunchtime, Chris witnessed Ollie wagging his tail and licking his lips eagerly upon seeing the sandwich, but then he took it and bolted as usual. This made Chris ponder and fret even more.
“If Ollie doesn’t have puppies and his owner has deserted him, then where does he take the food every day?” he wondered.
“Ollie, where are you off to?” Chris called out as he pursued the dog. But the dog didn’t slow down or glance back, disappearing into the marketplace and leaving Chris in a cloud of dust.
“What a peculiar dog!” Frustrated and bewildered, Chris shook his head and returned to work, unable to shake the image of Ollie running away with the food from his mind.
Chris’s mind was preoccupied with thoughts of where the dog went daily, but he couldn’t figure it out.
That evening, when Chris finished work and stepped out into the cold night air to head home, he saw Ollie sitting outside the closed bike shop.
The dog’s eyes were fixed on the glass panes, and upon seeing Chris approaching, he emitted a soft whine.
Chris’s heart sank at the sight of the forlorn, solitary dog. In the past few days, he had developed a deep affection for Ollie. The bond between them had strengthened, and Chris realized that Ollie was more than just a strange dog.

He was a loyal and affectionate friend who had touched Chris’s heart. The sight of Ollie sitting there, alone and sad, pained Chris. He knew he had to do something to assist him.
As he walked towards Ollie, Chris silently vowed to himself that he would never allow this poor animal to feel lonely again.
He knelt down, gently stroked Ollie’s head with a heavy heart, and whispered, “You’re not alone, buddy! I’m here for you.”
Chris’s kindness and concern for Ollie led him to make a challenging decision – to take the poor dog home with him. However, there was a hitch. Chris lived in a rented apartment with his girlfriend Mila, and she didn’t care for pets, especially dogs.
Chris was aware that bringing a dog into their home was a significant risk, and his girlfriend would surely object.
But he couldn’t simply leave the poor dog on the street.
So, that evening, he quietly approached the dog, gave it a cookie, and then attached a leash to its collar. Ollie was frightened and attempted to flee, but Chris soothed him and led him along.
