I showed the message to Jack. “What should I do?” I asked.
Jack took a deep breath. “That’s up to you, Ava. But remember, you deserve to be happy. If going back to Brian will make you happy, then you should consider it. But if it won’t, then don’t let anyone pressure you into something you don’t want.”
I thought about Jack’s words. I knew that I had changed in the past few days. I had seen a different side of life, a side where people were kind and caring. I wasn’t sure if I could go back to the way things were with Brian.
Over the next few days, I thought long and hard about Brian’s message. I also spent more time with Jack. We went to the Louvre, where we marveled at the Mona Lisa and other masterpieces. We took a hot air balloon ride over the city, and the view was breathtaking.
One day, as we were walking through a beautiful park, Jack stopped and turned to me. “Ava, I have to tell you something. I’ve grown really fond of you over these past few days. I know it’s fast, but I feel like there’s something special between us.”
I looked into his eyes and felt a flutter in my stomach. “I feel the same way, Jack. But I’m still married, and I need to figure things out with Brian.”
Jack nodded. “I understand. Take all the time you need. But know that I’ll be here for you, no matter what.”
A few days later, I decided to meet Brian. We met at a café near the Eiffel Tower. Brian looked tired and haggard.
“I’m so sorry, Ava,” he said as soon as I sat down. “I was an idiot. I didn’t realize how much I loved you until I thought I had lost you.”
I listened to him as he poured his heart out. He told me that the woman at the airport was just a friend, that he had never cheated on me. But I wasn’t sure if I could believe him.
“Brian, I need some time,” I said. “I’ve changed a lot in the past few days, and I’m not sure if I can go back to the way things were.”
Brian nodded. “I understand. Take all the time you need. I’ll do whatever it takes to win you back.”
After our meeting, I felt a sense of relief. I knew that I had made the right decision. I needed to focus on myself and figure out what I really wanted.
Over the next few weeks, I continued to explore Paris with Jack. We had many wonderful experiences together, and I felt like I was truly alive. And as I looked back on the past few months, I realized that sometimes, the worst things in life can lead to the best things. And for that, I was grateful.
