The pastor had a small kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and became too scared to come down. He tried everything to coax the kitten down—calling its name, offering treats, and even tempting it with a bowl of warm milk—but the kitten just stayed up there, wide-eyed and trembling.
After a while, the pastor realized that the tree was too weak for him to climb. He thought of an idea: If he tied a rope to his car, he could pull the tree toward him, bending it enough to reach the kitten.
He carefully tied the rope to his car and slowly began to drive forward, watching the tree bend toward him. Just as he thought he was close enough, he moved the car a little further, but the rope suddenly snapped. The tree snapped back with a loud “boing!” and, startled, the kitten was launched into the air, disappearing from sight.
Horrified, the pastor rushed out to search the neighborhood, asking anyone if they had seen a cat, but no one had. Feeling guilty, he said a prayer: “Lord, I commit this kitten to Your care,” and continued with his day.
A few days later, while at the grocery store, the pastor ran into one of his church members. As they chatted, his attention was drawn to her shopping cart, where he noticed a few cans of cat food.
This woman had always been known for her strong dislike of cats, so the pastor asked, “Why are you buying cat food?”
