Former President Bill Clinton Hospitalized in Washington, D.C.

On Monday afternoon, former President Bill Clinton was hospitalized in Washington, D.C., for tests and observation after developing a fever, his spokesperson confirmed.

Clinton’s deputy chief of staff, Angel Urena, reassured CNN, saying, “The president is fine.” She added that Clinton plans to be home for Christmas and is in good spirits, grateful for the excellent care he’s receiving.

At 78, Clinton was at his Washington residence when he was taken to MedStar Georgetown University Hospital, where he’s expected to stay overnight. He’s described as “awake and alert.”

Clinton, the 42nd U.S. President, has faced health challenges over the years but has remained active. In 2004, he underwent a successful quadruple bypass surgery for coronary artery disease. Six years later, he had laparoscopic surgery for an abdominal hernia, recovering without complications. Clinton also contracted COVID-19 during the pandemic but experienced only mild symptoms.

An advocate for heart health, Clinton continues to exercise regularly and maintain a balanced diet. This year, he spoke at the Democratic National Convention and stayed active on the campaign trail. He’s also kept busy promoting his new book, Citizen: My Life After the White House, demonstrating his commitment to both his health and public life.
