It seems as if Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis are growing up at a rapid pace, doesn’t it? George is destined to ascend to the throne one day, while Charlotte and Louis’ royal lives are bound to be filled with numerous exciting opportunities. For the time being, however, the most crucial aspect is that they are able to enjoy their childhood, and Prince William and Kate Middleton evidently understand this well.
Meanwhile, as these three royal children are gradually maturing within the confines of their royal residence, across the Atlantic Ocean in the United States, their cousins are also growing up within the walls of a multimillion-dollar mansion. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet live far away from the prying eyes of the British press. Nevertheless, their parents, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, have managed to keep their children in the public eye and at the center of conversations through their various actions.
Regrettably, it has been reported that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis have lost touch with their uncle Harry. Before Harry permanently left the Royal Family, George and Charlotte had developed a strong bond with him. This situation could potentially come back to haunt Prince William and Kate Middleton, as a royal expert has now predicted a rather gloomy outcome regarding what might unfold in the future.
When Prince George was born in 2013, Prince Harry was overjoyed and considered himself to be the happiest uncle in the world. By his own admission, Harry had envisioned frequent playdates and quality time with the family. However, in his book “Spare,” the Duke gave the impression that he had been shut out by William and Kate and was “never invited” to their home. “I took it for granted that I would be invited to their house at any moment. But the days went by, and it didn’t happen,” he explained. “I understand, I thought. They’re busy! Building a family! Or maybeβ¦ three’s a crowd. Maybe if I get married things will change,” Harry wrote in “Spare.”
The Relationship between Prince Harry and Prince George, Princess Charlotte & Prince Louis
Two years later, when Princess Charlotte was born, Harry was able to establish a connection with his nephew and niece. However, Prince Louis was only two years old when the Duke left the UK, and it is evident that the youngest of the Prince and Princess of Wales’ children has no real relationship with Harry.
That being said, Harry has made it clear that he desires to be a part of the children’s lives. Moreover, another unfortunate aspect of his “exile” is that his children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, have scarcely had any contact with their cousins.
As previously mentioned, due to his young age, Louis has not experienced the same kind of relationship with his uncle Harry as his older siblings did. However, when the young prince was christened, Harry went to great lengths to select a remarkable gift for him.
When Louis was christened, Harry put in a significant amount of effort to find the perfect present. Reflecting on his past, he remembered how his mother, Princess Diana, had a great passion for collecting first editions. Consequently, Harry wanted to initiate a new tradition with his nephews and nieces. “One of Harry’s happiest childhood memories was being read a bedtime story by his mother. She loved all the old classics, and Harry had the brilliant idea of starting a little library of first editions for Louis, Charlotte, and George to enjoy as they get older,” a close source told the Daily Record.
Prince Harry’s Special Gift to Prince Louis was Inspired by his Mother
Harry went shopping and purchased an original edition of A. A. Milne’s “Winnie the Pooh.” It cost him approximately Β£8,000 ($10,000). It was previously reported that Harry had chosen a rare copy from the initial print run of 30,000 copies in 1926. “He originally wanted to get Lewis Carroll’s ‘Through The Looking Glass,’ which was on sale for Β£24,000, but decided ‘Winnie-The-Pooh’ would be more suitable for a first tome. Robinson Crusoe was William’s favorite book, but Harry loved all things A.A. Milne,” the source continued.
Although Harry undoubtedly loves his brother’s children, he also harbors concerns. In an interview with The Telegraph to promote his book, the Duke expressed his worries about Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis becoming “spares” like him. “Though William and I have talked about it once or twice, and he has made it very clear to me that his kids are not my responsibility, I still feel a responsibility knowing that out of those three children, at least one will end up like me, the spare,” Harry said. “And that hurts, that worries me.”
Prince William & Kate Middleton “Aware” of Possibly ‘Spare’ Problems
At the time, royal expert Ingrid Seward criticized Harry for his remarks about Charlotte and Louis, suggesting that he should “lay off Prince William’s children.” However, despite Harry’s concerns, recent reports indicate that Prince William and Kate Middleton have the situation under control.
Speaking with the Mirror, royal expert Jennie Bond said that the Prince and Princess of Wales “must be acutely aware” of the potential problems that could arise if Prince Louis β and Princess Charlotte β were to be considered “spares.” “They have already demonstrated that they have a different and modern approach to raising royal children, and I’m certain they will do everything in their power to ensure that Charlotte and Louis feel just as special, loved, and valued as George,” Bond told the Mirror. “I imagine they will encourage Louis to explore life outside the royal sphereβ¦ it could be the military, but it could also be working in the charity sector or whatever he finds appealing after completing his education. I’m sure they will encourage him to attend University, which they both enjoyed and where, of course, they found love.”
The royal expert further elaborated: “And from there, they will want him to discover a life that holds meaning for him and is also appropriate for the son of a future King. They will strive to ensure that he feels he is leading a fulfilling life, regardless of his position in the line of succession, and that will likely involve some form of service, as they have emphasized from the outset that they want their children to understand that having empathy for others is not only a kind gesture but also rewarding.”
Prince Louis Could Have ‘Own Career’ Outside Royal Spotlight, Expert Says
As Bond proposed, William and Kate might encourage Louis to pursue new interests and find his passion outside of royal life. If he chooses to remain within the royal fold, he will likely be assigned a significant senior role within the monarchy and receive important titles.
However, Bond is not the only one predicting that Prince Louis could have a career beyond royal engagements. In an interview with OK!, as reported by Yahoo, Camilla Tominey, a royal expert and associate editor at The Telegraph, claimed that Prince William and Kate Middleton would support Charlotte and Louis if they preferred to “have their own careers.” “[William & Kate] don’t want history to repeat itself and for Prince Louis to seem like a royal hanger-on and follow the path of the Duke of York,” she told the Telegraph. “A number of the less prominent royals have pursued their own careers, so they are not entirely reliant on taxpayer funding,” she continued. “The extent to which the Cambridges have endeavored to normalize the lives of their children strongly suggests that β yes, Prince George has his predetermined destiny, but what about Princess Charlotte and Louis having their own careers?”
Tominey concluded: “They must strike the right balance between what their children want to do with their lives and their royal obligations.” “We might witness fewer royals in the future than we are accustomed to. But the question is, will there be enough royals to fulfill the necessary roles?”
“In their family it would never be the ‘heir and spare'”
In an interview with Hello! Magazine, parenting expert Jo Frost stated that the Prince and Princess of Wales would never allow Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis to be regarded as the “heir and spare” to their older brother, Prince George. “I believe William and Catherine understand the significance of fostering strong sibling relationships among the three of them,” Frost said. “Dare I say it, in their family, it would never be the ‘heir and spare’. It would be about the importance of each and every one of them. The understanding that it truly takes a team, with each member playing vital roles in upholding the crown and the monarchy.”
The relationship expert added: “And thus, we are seeing the early signs of what it means to support and nurture one another.”
While Prince George and Princess Charlotte surely have memories of spending time with Harry, Louis does not. Whether the children are aware of the exact reason why their uncle is no longer around remains unknown β but that could soon change.
Speaking to GB News, royal commentator Lydia Alty stated that the three royal children are ‘likely asking questions’ about Harry and the events that transpired when he left. “Prince Harry used to be close to his brother, Prince William. He was also very close to Prince William’s wife, the Princess of Wales, and their children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis,” she said. “Harry was even close to his father, despite reports and claims from him to the contrary. Now that the royals have become estranged and, as far as we know, are not communicating, this will have affected George, Charlotte, and Louis.”
Lydia Alty concluded: “His nephews and niece will probably be wondering why they haven’t seen their uncle and cousins.”
