Tension Between Jill Biden, Kamala Harris at Carter Funeral

CNN’s Jake Tapper highlighted the chilly greeting between President Biden, Vice President Harris, and their spouses at Jimmy Carter’s funeral, calling it “not particularly warm.” The Bidens met Harris and her husband, Doug Emhoff, at the National Cathedral, with no visible handshakes or eye contact. Tapper noted Biden, nearing the end of his presidency, began 2024 as a potential Democratic nominee—a year that turned out very differently than expected.

While Biden’s greeting was cool, former Presidents Trump and Obama were seen chatting amicably at the Capitol. At the funeral, all living presidents attended to honor Carter, who passed away at 100.

Meanwhile, Harris is eyeing a future beyond her 2024 loss. Sources say she’s considering running for California governor in 2026 or president in 2028, unwilling to let her final official act be certifying Trump’s victory. Democratic strategist Theryn Bond warned against a 2028 presidential run, citing the difficult dynamics within the party.
