One day, a truck driver walks into a diner with a full-grown emu trailing behind him. The waitress approaches and asks for his order.
“I’ll have a burger, fries, and a coffee,” the truck driver says, glancing at the emu. “What about you?”
The emu chimes in, “Sounds good to me. Same for me, please.”
The waitress, unfazed by this odd duo, brings their food and says, “That’ll be $10.50.”
The truck driver reaches into his pocket and pulls out the exact change!
This becomes a daily ritual: each day, they come in, order the same meal, and the truck driver always has exactly the right amount of cash.
Then one Friday night, things change. The truck driver says, “I’ll have a steak, baked potato, and a salad.” The emu agrees, “Sounds great… same for me.”
The waitress serves them and says, “That’ll be $32.65.”
Once again, the truck driver reaches into his pocket and, you guessed it, pulls out the exact change!
Finally, the waitress can’t hold back her curiosity any longer. “How do you always have the exact change, every single time?”
The truck driver grins and says, “Well, a few years ago, I was cleaning out my shed and found an old lamp. I polished it, and a genie popped out, granting me two wishes. My first wish was that every time I needed to pay for something, I’d always have the exact change in my pocket.”
The waitress is impressed. “That’s brilliant! You’ll never run out of money!”
“Exactly,” the truck driver smiles, “whether it’s a pack of gum or a new car, I’ve always got the exact amount.”
But the waitress, still eyeing the emu, asks, “So what about the bird?”
The truck driver shrugs. “Well, my second wish was for a tall bird with long legs and a great personality who agrees with everything I say.”
