An elderly man lay on his deathbed, his loving wife, Mabel, sitting quietly by his side.
He whispered weakly, “Mabel, I can’t believe it’s almost over. And here you are, right by my side, just like always.”
Mabel replied, “I’ve always been here for you, dear.”
He nodded and continued, “When I lost the business and we went bankrupt, you were there. When the bank foreclosed on our house, you were there. When the government came after me for ten years’ worth of back taxes, you were there. When the doctor told me I had six months to live, you were there. You know, Mabel, I’ve been thinking…”
She looked at him, “What is it, darling?”
He sighed and said, “You’re a g@ddamn jinx!”
A Reunion to Remember
My wife and I were sitting together at her high school reunion when she kept staring at a man sitting alone at a nearby table, drinking heavily.
I asked, “Do you know him?”
She sighed, “Yes, he’s my old boyfriend. I heard he started drinking right after we broke up all those years ago… and he hasn’t been sober since.”
I chuckled and said, “My God! Who knew someone could keep celebrating for that long?”
