A 50-year-old woman suddenly started learning how to swim, abandoning her usual routine of going to church. Naturally, everyone was curious and asked her:
“Why the change? Why swimming now?”
With a helpless smile, she replied:
“Whenever my son and daughter-in-law argue, she always asks him, ‘If your mom and I fall into water, who will you save first?'”
She paused, then continued, “I don’t want to put my son in that impossible position, so I decided to learn how to swim!”
A few days later, the couple was arguing again, and the daughter-in-law asked the same question:
“Now tell me, if your mom and I fall into water, who would you save first?”
Without skipping a beat, the husband answered:
“I don’t need to jump in—my mom knows how to swim. She’ll save you.”
But his wife wouldn’t give up:
“No, you have to jump in and choose one of us!”
The husband looked at her and said:
“Then you’re out of luck… because I don’t know how to swim, and my mom will definitely save me first!”
